As a I walked to down to the new cheese shop* on Main Street in Medford to grab a little cheese to go with my lunch of leftovers I noticed one of my favorite houses on Union Street. What I really noticed today was the lovely porch that stretched around the three visible sides as I walked along across the street. I know Claire is jealous of porches, so this should make her melt. These people have more usable living space on their porch in fair weather than I had in my first two apartments – combined.
Today was spent doing some household tasks, including taking down the Christmas decorations. For some reason it always makes me a little maudlin, probably not just because it means another holiday has passed, but what remains of winter tends to be largely quiet and uneventful. Great time to start this project, eh?

Tonight was Jen Walker’s birthday so her husband organized a small party at their home. On my way back to my car I snapped this from the corner of their street. There was excellent company as well as food and drink.
Every year during December the IBM Canada HQ near my house celebrates the holidays by tying a big red ribbon around its logo. Here’s drive-by shot of it.
This store is near our old workplace but this is the first time we went in since they completed the renovations. Now the wine section is about five times larger than it was and I was quite surprised to see that there are about 25 linear feet of Sake and Plum wine. The shelf turns three times and I was only able to get two of the sections in this shot.
