Today we took a trip to Housing Works, a second-hand bookstore in Soho where most of the proceeds go towards AIDS and HIV-related charities. It rivals any new bookstore in appearance and selection, and has excellent music playing over the store intercom, as opposed to Borders, which plays crap like the soundtrack to ‘Mamma Mia!’ The take: a ‘Mental Floss’ collection, an advance reader’s copy of an upcoming release called ‘Bursts,’ and two other books I picked up for a writing project but whose titles I’m too embarrassed to reveal.
