I See, You See, Laisee!
In typical Chinese culture, we would visit or call our elder relatives in the New Year and give them good wishes. In return, the young (ie. unmarried) receive money inside a laisee, which are basically red envelopes filled with a crisp new bill.
Cheesecake for Valentine’s Day
For the first time in a while, I made a cheesecake from scratch. The recipe I used recommended baking it for an hour, then turning the heat off and leaving the cheesecake in the oven for up to five hours without opening the door, to keep it from cracking or collapsing.
