This is an anti-static gun I use in the lab when weighing out or transferring powders to prevent it from flying all over the place, especially if  I’m wearing my nitrile gloves.  Of course, you can have fun zapping people with it too!   If they have static build up they’ll get a jolt if you can sneak up from behind and attack .

So yes, I’m late to the theme week, starting today instead of yesterday.  But here I am, and here’s my kid’s hands as she plays with the ever-present Nintendo DSi, killing time while waiting for the subway this morning.  I’ve since been finding myself spotting interesting bits of red to consider photographing here and there.

This is a detail from a pair of pajama pants that I wore tonight. The penguins are teeny tiny and adorable!

Shame on me, beauty is happening right in front of my face and I miss taking a moment to enjoy it. Thanks to the person who suggested red, for I wouldn’t have taken the time to really look at this. A flowering plant given to me by a student teacher, I don’t know what it is or how to take care of it.  I have revived it twice already, so we have become friends. Maybe I’ll call her Carmine.

Due to a sick kid, I had to leave the house today.  I was happy to leave but wish it could have been for something different.   One thing I realized is that there is a lot of red out there.  I try my best to stay off 95 unless I am going to visit family in Florida, but in the short amount of time out this picture turned out best.
