Skating at City Hall

Skating at City Hall

Today, I skated for the first time in a long time (over 10 years!) at the outdoor skating rink at Nathan Phillips Square, right next to City Hall. It was free to skate around in, and skate rentals were only $9 for 2 hours. For the record, I had about 7 knee-downs but only 1 genuine fall.

Frapto 60 – Just a puppet on a string

Frapto 60 – Just a puppet on a string

From a very young age, mainly thanks to Jim Henson, I wanted to build and operate puppets. This puppet was a presents  from the folks when I was 8 maybe? can’t quite remember. She has a unique talent of getting tangled up rather easily and was not the type of puppet I actually wanted. I [...]

Curry!

Curry!

Cobalt retains many of its historical buildings from that era and this [...]

Working Lunch

Working Lunch

I am working at home today and I spent half the morning wrestling with a new system that apparently nobody knew had changed. Was a morning of “What do you see when you go here?” and “Ohhhh that’s what you are trying to do.” At least the system ops had a great tech on staff today and we got it all straightened out. At about 1:00pm I realized that my annoyance with all this may have to do with hunger.

Tequila Selection

Tequila Selection

Heather and I went to La Esperanza restaurant last night.  La Esperanza means “hope”. More literally, it means “grasshopper”, which is traditionally a sign of future prosperity or hope in latin culture.
The food at La Esperanza is delicious (especially the flan!) and they have a broad selection of tequilas.  Every bottle that [...]

Lunch with the Gang

Lunch with the Gang

I went to lunch with my co-workers today.  We recently found out that Nicole, second from the left in this shot, would no longer be working with us in the new year.  We decided to take her out for one last lunch.
